Water Center Featured on Yahoo!

Yahoo! explains that The Global Water Center is part of Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation, or WEDC. Reed Hall, Secretary and CEO of WEDC believes: “[The Center] is part of the overall strategy of making key investments in the most competitive and highest priority industries in Wisconsin.”

“The Global Water Center has put Milwaukee and Wisconsin on the map when it comes to water technology”, said Wisconsin Governor, Scott Walker.

Currently, The Center is working with JPMorgan Chase in creating and establishing a platform for increasing capital to high-growth potential water-tech companies. JPMorgan recently selected the Global Water Center to receive part of a five-year, $30 million grant. This grant gives entrepreneurs the resources they need to help grow their businesses and create jobs, in turn giving back to the community. Read more about the grant here.

Its mission is to align the regional fresh water research community and water-related industries in order to establish the Milwaukee region as the World Water Hub for water research, economic development, and education. With help from The Center’s efforts, Milwaukee has been dubbed “Freshwater Capital of the World”.
