Senate Votes to Confirm Lee Francis Cissna as Director of USCIS
On October 5th, Lee Francis Cissna was confirmed by the U.S. Senate as the Director of U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) in a vote of 54-43. Mr. Cissna, who until now, has headed immigration policy at the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. House Judiciary Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte (R-Va.), praised the confirmation, saying Cissna is “uniquely qualified” for the position.
USCIS is tasked with overseeing the U.S. immigration system and is responsible for approving immigration benefits. These benefits range from short-term visas to citizenship and include the EB-5 Immigrant Investor Visa Program.
FirstPathway Partners continues to advocate for long-term EB-5 program reauthorization and looks forward to working with the new leadership.
