Promising EB-5 Bills Under Review

The EB-5 Community has been working hard to encourage legislators and lawmakers to further extend the EB-5 Immigrant Investor Visa Program. However, after many months of careful and consistent work, a number of viable long-term EB-5 bills are now in circulation.

The first bill was introduced in mid-April by Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman, Senator Grassley (R-IA), and former Senate Judiciary Committee Ranking Member, Leahy (D-VT). The bi-partisan bill titled: American Job Creation and Investment Promotion Reform Act of 2017 proposes a multi-year re-authorization of the EB-5 Program.

Shortly after, another promising piece of EB-5 legislation was circulated for discussion by Senate Majority Whip and Senate Immigration Sub-Committee Chairman, Coryn (R-TX). The draft legislation is similar to the previously mentioned bill and could become a viable option through consensus and compromise.

IIUSA drafted multiple letters in response to these bills based on IIUSA’s 2017 Policy Platform. IIUSA's Policy Platform came from inclusive, deliberative, and transparent processes involving diverse industry interests. These comments incorporate insight from IIUSA’s Board of Directors, President’s Advisory Council, Public Policy Committee, its members and other stakeholders.

FirstPathway Partners looks forward to further discussions with law-makers and industry stakeholders in order to create a strong future for the EB-5 Immigrant Investor Visa Program.
