FirstPathway Partners congratulates Li Na for winning the Australian Open Women’s Singles title after defeating Dominika Cibulkova, 7-6 (3), 6-0. Li Na stands as the most accomplished Chinese tennis player, collecting her second Grand Slam singles trophy.
Losing to Kim Clijsters in 2011, as well as Victoria Azarenka in 2013, Li Na eventually overcame her losses, advancing to the season’s first Grand Slam event versus the 20th seeded Cibulkova. This was Li Na’s third final in four years at Melbourne Park.
Beaming after her win, Li Na exclaimed, “after I win the match, I really, really exciting. I think I have drops still coming down, you know. I try to have hug with the team, but is too high. I cannot catch it.”
With an overall 9-11 record in career finals, Li is just the fourth woman in history to win the Aussie Open crown after saving a match point.
