Global Water Center To Become First AWS Certified Office Building in World

The Center is back in the spotlight as it works to acquire the title of being the first office building in the world to implement the Alliance for Water Stewardship (AWS) International Water Stewardship Standard.

According to the AWS, this designation is "an international, ISEAL-compliant, standard that defines a set of water stewardship criteria and indicators for how water should be stewarded at a site and catchment level in a way that is environmentally, socially, and economically beneficial. The Standard provides water stewards with a six-step continual improvement framework that enables sites to commit to, understand, plan, implement, evaluate and communicate water stewardship actions."

The Water Council serves as the official North American headquarters for AWS. The Council has worked to secure a two-year grant from the Fund for Lake Michigan in an effort to help other commercial buildings to implement the AWS Standard.
